Gardening!
Many hands make light work! We had a great time mulching the shrubbery in the front of the school.
Lots of hard-working gardeners in our class!!

Bees!
Last week some 5th graders visited our classroom to teach about the busy bee business going on here at school! Did you know there is a small store selling honey lollipops, lip balm and more!
They showed is the process of collecting the honey and the tools that help them. We even got to dress up a friend in a beekeeper suit!

Balls and Ramps: Lab #2
Our question this week: ¨Will the length of the inclined plan affect how far a marble will roll?¨
Our hypothesis was that yes, it would. We thought the marble would roll farther with a longer tube. But we were very surprised by our results! Ask your child to explain what happened and why! (The last picture explains it all!)

Publishing our Poetry!
Last week students chose their 2 favorite poems to publish. With a little help from awesome 4th graders, we typed them up and added some clip art. They are beautiful and will be coming home soon!
Artists at work!
I was blown away by the incredible artwork everyone did while drawing the covers of their favorite books! Artists, artists....every one of us!

Balls and Ramps!
Over the past 2 weeks students have experimented with various inclined planes and marbles of different mass. After gathering some background knowledge, we conducted our first experiment and wrote a detailed lab report. Our question was, ¨Does the height of an inclined plane affect how far a marble will roll?¨ We conducted 3 trials at various heights and collected our data. Our claim is that, yes, the height will affect how far the marble rolls. This week our variable will be the length of the inclined plane, using tubes of varying lengths.
