Nearby Nature: Animal Tracks

We learned the three P's of animal track identification last week:  Place, Pattern and Position.
We matched animal tracks to animals, had fun walking like different animals and even spotted some cool tracks outside!

OOBLECK!

As a culmination to our unit on matter, we made OOBLECK!  Is it a liquid? a solid? both? Ask your little scientist!!

Science: Mystery Mixtures

In science this week students used what they learned about the properties of salt, sand, cornstarch and baking soda to figure out the two substances in each mystery mixture!

Math: Meaurement

This week we began our measurement unit. We did some fun activities to understand the need for a standard unit of measure. Then, students used a foot and a giant foot (yard) to estimate and measure lots of things around the room. Measuring the long hallway outside our classroom was quite a "feat"!
